LawScribe, Inc., based in Los Angeles, with offices in New York and Gurgaon, India, announced today that the State Bar of California had approved its legal outsourcing ethics presentation for MCLE ethics credit."I believe that LawScribe is one of the first LPOs in the marketplace, if not the only, to receive such certification by any of the State Bar associations. This is further evidence of our ongoing commitment to raising standards within the legal process outsourcing industry."

The seminar, soon to be offered to law firms, corporate counsel and legal departments nationwide, covers the ethical, liability, and security risks associated with the outsourcing of both non-core and higher-value legal work overseas.

LawScribe’s CEO and President, Kunoor Chopra, explained how the seminar had come to fruition. "We have always taken great care to ensure that our Indian attorneys are not engaged in the unauthorized practice of law and that our law firm and in-house counsel clients are fully aware of the supervisory responsibilities incumbent upon them in any offshore legal outsourcing relationship. This course is based on the domain expertise that we have built up over the last 4 years and the best practices that the leading legal process outsourcing companies, including LawScribe, currently have in place," she said.

The seminar also considers issues relating to potential conflicts of interest, the security and privacy risks associated with offshore legal outsourcing, and how the outsourced work should be billed.

Mark Ross, U.K. attorney and LawScribe Director added, "I believe that LawScribe is one of the first LPOs in the marketplace, if not the only, to receive such certification by any of the State Bar associations. This is further evidence of our ongoing commitment to raising standards within the legal process outsourcing industry."
