The Possession Legacy, a horror fantasy by Trevor Dalton, is now available, published by Libros International. Trevor Dalton’s book is a tale of modern day vampires and is set in Wales and the West Midlands. The book’s monsters walk the streets of Bromsgrove, but the power that these monsters have inherited came not from Transylvania, but from the mythical invincibility of Llewellyn, first price of Wales.

Llewellyn is a legendary warrior who struggles with the Normans. His prowess on the field of combat seem almost superhuman. There are many rumours and even his own brother cannot understand the source of his strength.

Llewellyn travels to Carmarthen where he learns of a prophecy by the wizard Merlin that predicts his ultimate heritage is to become a vampire. Whilst fighting a Norman knight he is bitten by a female mosquito. The mosquito is crushed underfoot by the combatants’ dray horses and spend the next 500 years trapped.

The plot then moves to the present. A tremendous storm alters the course of a river and the waters release the mosquito. She is awakened by the blood from a fox kill and begins her quest to procreate and establish a brood of her own.

Sarah, a sixteen year old girl, and prepubescent Lynette are both bitten by mosquitoes and become strangely linked. Several characters all visit a particular hotel in Wales and their lives are transformed by chance events that conspire to determine their common future. Their lives thus become interwoven as the story unfolds.

Sarah´s story occupies a single week, during which time she discovers her own vampire heritage and also her links with Lynette. The bloodlust she has inherited from Llewellyn and the needs of the mosquito brood-mother lead Sarah on a rampage of killing that seals her ultimate demise. In the Possession Legacy we follow several characters and eventually Sarah, herself, to bizarre and bloody endings.

A review of the book describes it as “a gripping, chilling, modern tale of life, betrayal, humanity and vampires. Unlike run of the mill vampire novels, it does not rely on the past and the superstitions of that era. It moves swiftly from past to present-day Wales and intertwines the reader in the everyday lives of various unsuspecting families going about their daily business. This is an exceptional novel by a very skilled writer, making this book a must read for fans of the horror and a starting point for anyone who has wondered where to start with the genre.”
Trevor began his writing career at 12 when he wrote a poem for his grandmother called the “Drinking Pig”. He continued to write poetry until the age of forty eight, when he moved to fiction. His school career was chequered and he didn’t finish with any qualifications other than Art and Engineering ‘O’ levels. He then followed a variety of jobs, including beach bum, hippie, railway worker and, after a spell in the army, he fell into sales.

Trevor and his wife Brenda now live in Spain and have two children, Lee and Antony, plus three step children, Natalie, Nick, and Beverly, and seven grand children, Dylan, Callum, Stacey, Hannah, Jack, Josh and Sam. His interests include playing the guitar badly, seeing the world, and riding on his best toy, a quad bike.

He chose the Horror genre after his forty fifth attempt at a book failed. “I realised I had to write about something I understood,” he says, “ and I was weaned on Hammer House of Horror.” After enough rejection slips to paper a small room, just like London buses, two publication offers came along at the same time. After meeting the team from Libros International, Trevor duly signed up.
He is indebted to Ken Scott the author of “Jack of Hearts” and “A Million Would Be Nice”, and all at Libros International for their help in publishing “The Possession Legacy” and the forthcoming title “Open Tap”.
