Staff and volunteers at The American Museum in Britain are gearing up for another popular festive season that annually draws visitors from all over the UK and across the globe. From November 24th to December 16th 2007, The American Museum in Britain near Bath, will host this years attraction Christmas Jewels. Each decorated period room will focus on treasured gifts and families can discover why they were so precious to our early Americans.

Sparkling, jewel like decorations and lustrous homemade trimmings will adorn the fifteen-foot Central Hall tree. The stairways and halls will catch the light radiating warm jewel-like rich colours throughout this elegant manor house. Children of all ages will be invited to find the Emerald Elves hiding throughout the museum and leave their Christmas wish list with the fairies. (Tickets £4-£7.50) This relaxed and enjoyable outing is made even easier thanks to free parking and entrance to the museum’s authentic country store that brims with gift ideas.

The festive celebrations will climax on Saturday 15th December 6.00-8.30pm with Claverton by Candlelight. (Advance bookings only 01225 823014, Tickets £7, £10 and £30 family ticket) 1000 candle lanterns will light up the museum and the surrounding grounds on this winter’s night. The magical evening will feature holiday music, food and drink, plus a visit from Ol’ Saint Nick. Then finally a grand finale of seasonal fireworks will bring the curtain down on another fantastic year for the American Museum in Britain.

Jill Beard, Christmas Designer for The American Museum in Britain, believes the Christmas celebrations are the ideal family treat: “We are very grateful to our visitors who have supported us throughout the year. Christmas at Claverton has become an annual iconic gathering that entertains and inspires the whole family.”
