Rock Town Hall Publishes Inside Details of Big Dipper Reunion and CD Release

(PRLEAP.COM) Rock Town Hall gets the inside details on beloved ’80s indie rockers Big Dipper upcoming reunion in April 2008 and March release of a 3-CD set, including songs from the band’s first 3 long-out-of-print releases, rarities, unreleased tracks, and the original video for the band’s "Faith Healer" single. The collection will include liner notes by WFMU’s Tom Scharpling.

The news was discussed in detail on the popular rock music discussion blog, Rock Town Hall.

“Big Dipper has a lot of fans in The Hall. We are excited and proud to bring this discussion to our fellow Townsfolk and the people at large,” said Jim Slade, the blog’s “Mr. Moderator.°±

Talk of a reunion was first sparked 4 years ago by Scharpling on his radio program, The Best Show on WFMU. Scharpling, who is also a producer and writer for USA Network°Øs Monk and contributor to The Onion, tracked down band members as part of an on-air spoof of VH-1’s Bands Reunited show.

ABOUT ROCK TOWN HALL - Formerly a private Yahoo! discussion group, Rock Town Hall is now a public blog for rock fans, geeks, snobs and nerds. The Hall was founded to carry on and expand late-night turntable debates on self-important issues in rock. In 2002, they convened as a private discussion list among a baker’s dozen of opinionated, music-loving friends. In time “RTH” grew to a virtual Who the Hell Does He Think He Is? among rock musicians, journalists, DJs, record collectors, and assorted rock nerds.

The Rock Town Hall blog was created and produced by longtime Philadelphia rock scenester Jim Slade and college chum and former FOX network development executive, Jason Sikes.
