ONLY 24 MORE DAYS UNTIL THE TIVOLI BOYS GUARD BAND COMES TO STRATFORD!

July 02, 2005 (PRLEAP.COM) Entertainment News
The Tivoli Boys Guard Band will perform several concerts in Stratford this summer – all of them free. Watch for them at the Mayor’s Parade on August 1 at 11:00am, and later that day at the Summer Music Tattoo at Lower Queen’s Park as they participate with bands from Canada and the US in a salute to Canada’s Year of the Veteran. They will also perform three concerts in the Stratford Festival Gardens on Thursday July 28, Saturday July 30 and Sunday July 31 at 1pm.

The Guard Band traditionally wear uniforms of the Royal Danish Court with red tunics and black bearskin hats when performing each week at the Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen. The young musicians will experience Stratford’s well documented hospitality as area families open their homes to reveal a glimpse of Canadian home life. The boys, most of whom speak English, will be billeted in pairs for companionship. Besides performing in the concerts scheduled, they will attend a Stratford Festival production, enjoy swimming at St. Mary’s Quarry and visit Toronto and Niagara Falls during their visit.

Their stay in Stratford is particularly relevant in this Canadian Year of the Veteran, and VE Day Anniversary Year as both Danes and Canadians mark Canada’s wartime assistance to Denmark in WWII.
