Budget-Awnings.com Attends IFAI Trade Show in Las Vegas, Nevada

Budget-Awnings.com attended the Industrial Fabric Association International Trade Show, an annual October event hosted this year in Las Vegas. The IFAI expo is the largest show for fabric industries, offering seminars and over 450 exhibits introducing the latest application designs. Budget-awnings.com attends this event yearly for new ideas to adapt for budget lines.

"One of the reasons we went to the show is to find new products for our budget line," explained Budget-awnings.com's vice president, Eric Scop. The finest retractable awning lines come from Europe, which invented retractable awnings and has a market 20 times the size of the US's. Economy lines usually come from Asia. Both sides of the market were represented at the IFAI expo.

According to Scop, the most interesting ideas are still emerging from Europe, particularly Italy and Germany. Some high end ideas were particularly appealing:
• Butterfly awnings, one of the most popular awning styles in Australia, use strips of fabric in intricate designs; Scop described the style as "airy, open…like birds flying."
• Motion sensors detect any instantaneous movement and respond immediately to wind gusts. New motion sensors are wireless and battery-run, which makes them easier to install and maintain.
• More durable printing processes greatly increase the lifetime of the printing on awnings, resistant to fading for five years instead of the standard two.
• New approaches to color from a German fabric manufacturer, using psychology to help with color selections. "They're trying to take people's perception of color and translate it," Scop said. "I think it's interesting. Color is the most important thing; color affects the look aesthetically, heat protection, UV protection, and light transmission."
• Telescopic retractable canopy systems have large panels of patented materials that fit together like the sections of a telescope, creating an unusually strong awning that can withstand rain, hurricane winds, and earthquakes. Thermal technology makes the design snow-resistant.
• Retractable atrium canopies use intricate guide-wire systems to suspend accordion-style canopies that are easily retractable and can be installed as high as 70'.

It will be a while before these designer concepts will be available on a budget. Budget-awnings.com product line provides a simple awning design, with a broad selection of fabrics and sensors that are geared toward affordability. These new innovations are priced well outside the budget price range. However, Budget-awnings.com anticipates using these creative concepts in the future as they become more affordable or economy alternatives become available. Scop said that Budget-awnings.com plans to expand their product line next season, and trade shows like IFAI's symposium give them ideas on the direction of the industry.

Budget-Awnings.com has been shipping RETRACTABLE sun and rain protection awning systems to residential, commercial and institutional customers worldwide since 1998. Retractable awnings are available with wind, rain, motion and sun sensors.
