Controversial Lesbian Rape Documentary "She Stole my Voice" Released on DVD

(PRLEAP.COM) The American Academy of Film and Gender Studies released on DVD today, “She Stole My Voice: A Documentary About Lesbian Rape.”

According to Director Justine Chang, “Lesbian rape is often discounted by the community and by law enforcement agencies. For lesbian rape to be taken seriously, we need to jolt people out of their apathy. This film uses every means to try to do that.”

The film uses an unusual format that interweaves community responses, expert analyses, reenactments based on lesbian rapes, and even text. According to Chang, the film is not trying to promote one viewpoint, but rather to encourage a thorough and multidimensional understanding of lesbian rape. “We tried to create a complete understanding of lesbian rape, as much as is possible with a film.”

“She Stole My Voice: A Documentary About Lesbian Rape” is available for purchase online at www.rmdglobal.net/she-stole-my-voice.
