Humboldt Storage and Moving Spearheads Major Community Event

Canton, MA: November 9, 2007: Humboldt Storage and Moving of Canton, MA has just wrapped up another year of fundraising for local charities in the Canton, MA area.

Humboldt CEO Howard Goldman along with a team of local leaders and volunteers have headed up the Reebok Homecoming Road race run by the Canton Association of Industries (CAI). The event is held at the end of September. This year’s event raised over $50,000 which brings the three-year total to over $100,000. The proceeds of the 2007 race will be donated to Mass Hospital School of Canton, Town of Canton Recreation Department, Mass Audubon Clarke School for the Deaf, the Canton Block Party Committee, Canton Public Schools as well as local Police & Fire Departments.

Goldman, current president of the CAI, was instrumental in initiating the road race back in 2005 and continues to chair the committee. “We have a great team for this event,” states Goldman. “We could not put on this scale of an event or raise the funds we have without a dedicated committee and an army of great volunteers.”

Money raised over the past three years has been donated to local Canton Charities and Town of Canton organizations. To date over $16,000 alone has been donated to the Mass Hospital School in Canton, Mass for their various programs. The school runs several programs for children with disabilities.

This year’s event added a new twist, a Corporate 5k challenge. Canton based companies were asked to field a team of five or more runners to battle for the coveted crystal Champions Cup. Humboldt Storage and Moving fielded a team of seven and put up a serious effort to make it to the finish line.

Other highlights of the race included a one- mile fun run which had over 60 children participate and a 5K wheelchair race which was also well attended. After the race families were invited to take advantage of food and drink, courtesy of the Canton Association of Industries, and participate in a silent auction with items from the Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics.

Goldman was quite pleased with the results. “I have been blessed in life and I truly believe it is a responsibility to give back to one’s local community,” stated Goldman. “Not only with financial resources but with time as well, we should all take time out of our own life to make a difference in the lives of others.”
