ARROYO GRANDE, Calif.—Girlgear Industries, the California-based company best known for its “Pink Tool Belt,” changed ownership last month. Terri Ikeda purchased the company from Kelli Reamer, the original owner and creator of their product line.

In addition to their famous Pink Tool Belt, Girlgear Industries sells other home improvement items tailored to women. All products come in their signature raspberry-pink color and include the original tool belt, mini tool belt, tool bag, tool pouch and work gloves.

Terri Ikeda said she was inspired to purchase Girlgear Industries after a recent trip to Kenya.

“In August of 2007, my daughter Carly and I traveled to Kenya with a Christian mission group where we helped build homes for two struggling widows and their children,” said Ikeda. “Out of a passion for the people in that small-island village, I began to search for a business idea that would help fund my desire to build more homes. Girlgear Industries seemed like the perfect answer; it will allow me to dedicate a portion of the profits to building more homes in Kenya.”

Sales of Pink Tool Belts and other Girlgear Industries products will finance ongoing construction of more homes for Kenyan widows and their families.
