BJAC Announces New Interior Designer

RALEIGH, N.C. – Lou Jurkowski, chief executive officer of BJAC, pa, (www.bjac.com) one of the largest woman-owned design firms in the Southeast, has announced that Dana Mortensen, LEED AP, has joined the firm as an interior designer. In this position, Mortensen will focus on space planning and sustainable design and building operation. Her previous experience in psychology and healthcare inform her to create healthy and prosperous environments that improve quality of life.

Mortensen has been named a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professional (AP) by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). LEED Accredited Professionals have demonstrated a thorough understanding of sustainable building practices and principles and with LEED requirements, resources and processes. The LEED Green Building System is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high-performance sustainable buildings.

Mortensen earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Connecticut in Storrs, Conn. as well as a bachelor’s degree in interior design from Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Fla., and a master’s degree in counseling from Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C. Mortensen, who is a member of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) and the Emerging Green Builders (EGB), received the Student International Interior Design Association (IIDA) Contract Design Award in 2006.
