The National Business Awards honour Translation Company.

At The National Business Awards 2007 a Huddersfield based Translation Company; Applied Language Solutions were awarded the AXA Small to Medium Business of the Year Award. The impressive ceremony was hosted by Sir Trevor McDonald in the Grosvenor House Hotel in London and was thoroughly enjoyed by the Applied Language team.

The language services company became a contender for the national accolade following their success at the Manchester ceremony in July, where they became the AXA small to medium sized business of the year for the North East of England. At this Regional award ceremony they were also highly commended in three other categories.

Applied Language Chief Executive and founder, Gavin Wheeldon was elated when they announced the winner. He said "We are thrilled to be awarded with such a prestigious award. Applied Language has gone from strength to strength over the last 4 years having developed from a one man business to a 90 strong global team. And for the company to be recognised at such an esteemed award ceremony is a great honour.”

The AXA Small to Medium Sized Business of the Year Award was awarded to Applied Language for the overall innovation of the company. It acknowledges the fact that they are constantly highlighting the importance of management excellence in maintaining a successful business and have big plans for continued growth in the future.

Gavin said, "Although this is a UK based award we could not have achieved this level of success without the hard work and commitment of the staff in all of our offices around the world. Applied Language is a team effort and this award confirms that.”

The National Business Awards is a leading programme in recognising excellence in business. The programme offers winners more than just the opportunity to lift a trophy at the renowned ceremony as in addition to this award, Applied Language Solutions have won a place on the AXA SME Master class that takes place in France and are offered a three day course to finely tune their management and business skills by some of AXA’s leading business experts.

In just over three years, Gavin has driven his highly successful translation and interpretation into an international operation with sales over £3.7 million, despite not being able to speak any foreign tongues. What was once a one-man business operating from his back bedroom is now an award winning company.

Applied Language Solutions is no stranger to award ceremonies as last year they were awarded with the HSBC start up Stars award and previously this year they were honoured at the Institute of Directors (IoD) Awards 2007 when Gavin Wheeldon was awarded Entrepreneur of the Year Award. The Translation Company are also nominated for four awards at The Chamber Awards 2007, taking place on Thursday 29th November at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
