KINGSTON, N.Y., — Nov. 16, 2007 — Coinciding with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s assuming control of Stewart International Airport, JMC Marketing Communications & PR announced the formation of a Hudson Valley practice to support businesses seeking to locate and expand in the region. The practice group is being led by Sylvia Murphy, JMC’s vice president and general manager.

“With its commitment to Stewart, the Port Authority is bringing fresh development energy and a new round of economic growth – significantly increasing jobs and economic activity in this area,” Murphy said.

“JMC is positioned to provide strategic programs involving advertising, marketing promotions and other tools to clients in Dutchess, Greene, Orange, Rockland and Ulster counties. We can help promote understanding and improved relations with and among businesses, community groups and government. In addition, we have the capabilities to support marketing whether it’s regional or global,” Murphy said.

“We have assisted local groups in their relations with towns and community organizations on both sides of the Hudson, and we’ve helped others improve their marketing effectiveness,” she added.

She observed that JMC is expanding its region-wide activities, citing its corporate sponsorship of the Mid Hudson’s Pattern for Progress Annual Meeting and Awards Reception Nov. 1.

John Mallen, president and CEO of JMC, is serving as a member of Pattern’s strategy development committee. Previously, Mallen was on the staff of the Regional Plan Association, which developed regional planning centers including Pattern, and for the Committee for Economic Development (CED), a national think tank.

Murphy is active in many local and regional groups, serving on the board of the Gateway Foundation and serving on the Ambassador Committee, Sponsorship Committee and Special Events Committee of the Chamber of Commerce of Ulster County.
