Service Lighting and Electrical Supplies Wins Place among Entrepreneurial Elite in the 17th Annual SMU Cox Dallas 100TM

(PRLEAP.COM) Service Lighting and Electrical Supplies was honored on November 9, 2007 with a ranking of 88th in the 17th annual Dallas 100TM Awards. Co-founded in 1990 by the SMU Cox School of Business and the Caruth Institute for Entrepreneurship, the Dallas 100TM Awards is an annual event that identifies and honors the 100 fastest-growing privately held companies in the Dallas area. To qualify for the Dallas 100TM, a company must meet a number of criteria based on its legal status, location, sales history, credit report and character. For 2007 the criteria are:
• Be an independent, privately held corporation, proprietorship or partnership (not a subsidiary of a parent company) as of May 1, 2006
• Be headquartered in the Dallas area
• Have had sales of not less than $500,000 and not more than $75,000,000 in fiscal 2004
• Have a three-year sales history reflecting growth
• Have a credit report and character satisfactory to The Dallas 100TM, determined at the sole discretion of the Dallas 100TM

Kim Pedersen, founder of Service Lighting and Electrical Supplies (http://www.1000Bulbs.com/), got his start in the lighting industry over 25 years ago when he was employed as a salesperson in Elkhorn, Nebraska. Kim sold light bulbs to commercial and industrial customers across the Mid-Western states. In 1982, he moved to Dallas for a job with a national lighting distributor selling the same line of products. After many years in sales, Kim decided to start his own company. He set up headquarters in Mesquite, Texas and started with a desk made of two saw horses and an old door.

Today, Pedersen oversees sales of over $10 million annually and is currently in negotiations to lease an 86,000 sq. ft. call center and distribution facility for his “Empire of Light”.
