Metabo’s Rotary Hammer Now Features an Integrated Dust Reduction Vacuum for Dustless Drilling

November 18, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
WEST CHESTER, PA, November 2007 – Metabo Corporation, a leading international manufacturer of professional grade portable electric power tools and abrasives for industrial, construction and welding applications, now offers the BHE 20 IDR rotary hammer with integrated dust reduction (IDR) technology to contain harmful airborne dust particles emitted when drilling holes in masonry materials.

The new dust reduction feature works in all positions, however, it is ideal for overhead drilling applications, such as sprinkler and hung ceiling installation, where a device is needed to protect the operator from harmful silica-bearing dust. When drilling overhead, the IDR feature also protects the tool’s mechanisms from the negative effects of abrasive dust, resulting in a longer lasting power tool.

With this advanced solution, the BHE 20 IDR not only ensures safety of the operator with reduced dust inhalation, but also satisfies the OSHA requirement for engineering tools to capture these particles at the source.

In addition, the tool’s IDR vacuum features a separate motor, allowing the tool to run at full power. The rotary hammer weights only 7.7 Ibs., making it the lightest in its class and features a rated input power of 450 watts. The BHE 20 IDR is rated up to 3/4” diameter holes and offers a maximum impact rate of 4,900 blows per minute with single impact energy of 1.6 joules.

The dust reduction filter can be easily cleaned by using compressed air or rinsing with water, keeping replacement costs to a minimum and ensuring a longer tool life. All wear parts of the IDR feature can be replaced easily in the field without the use of tools.
