Fox Chase Cancer Center’s Tree of Life Ceremony Brightens the Holiday Season

(PRLEAP.COM) PHILADELPHIA (Nov. 2007) – Fox Chase Cancer Center celebrates the 19th annual Tree of Life ceremony on Wednesday, December 5 at 5 p.m. in the Fox Chase Cafeteria (333 Cottman Avenue, Philadelphia). This emotional celebration gives families, friends, patients and staff the opportunity to honor cancer survivors, remember loved ones who have struggled with cancer or say thank you for care received. The event is open to the public.

If you are unable to attend the Tree of Life ceremony, you can still honor loved ones by logging onto www.fccc.edu/giving/tree and making a donation in their memory.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Hospital of Fox Chase Cancer Center, the Tree of Life campaign earned more than $195,000 in donations last year. The money benefits patient care at Fox Chase. All contributors and the names of those they honor or memorialize are inscribed in the Friends’ Book of Honor, which has a permanent place in the Durant Family Lounge in the main lobby.
The Friends of the Hospital, a member organization of the Center’s Board of Associates, is a volunteer organization dedicated to raising funds to assist Fox Chase in its mission of providing the very best in research and patient care in the fight against cancer.

Fox Chase Cancer Center was founded in 1904 in Philadelphia as the nation’s first cancer hospital. In 1974, Fox Chase became one of the first institutions designated as a National Cancer Institute Comprehensive Cancer Center. Fox Chase conducts basic, clinical, population and translational research; programs of cancer prevention, detection and treatment; and community outreach.
