Deepnet Security Launch Ever-Lasting Hardware Token, Offer Free Token Replacement

November 22, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
London, UK – Authentication experts Deepnet Security Ltd today announce the launch of their new ever-lasting One Time Password (OTP) hardware token - Deepnet SafeID.

Deepnet SafeID is a small, low-cost, push button token device that is compliant to the OATH open standard. Unlike expensive conventional hardware tokens that normally expire in 3-5 years, Deepnet SafeID never expires.

Deepnet SafeID provides yet another flexible option for deploying 2-way and 2-factor authentication - in essence guaranteeing that a person trying to access a system, website, application, network or online bank account is who they claim to be.

Integrating seamlessly with the Deepnet Unified Authentication software platform, Deepnet SafeID adds to the growing list of more than ten flexible token deployment options – authentication is currently available via mobile phone, PDA, SMS, together with card based one time password token generators, voice and keystroke recognition.

“When it comes to authentication, the challenge is not necessarily about which authentication method is better than another," said Yurong Lin, Chief Executive Officer of Deepnet Security.

"Different user group and different business applications often require different authentication methods. Our one platform allows customers to deploy strong authentication to a wide variety of users with choices of more than 10 different authentication methods. This level of unprecedented flexibility enables organisations to select the authentication methods that meet their work and lifestyles”.

“To coincide with the launch of SafeID, I am also pleased to announce that Deepnet will replace any legacy hardware authentication tokens with SafeID, free of charge, with the purchase of a Deepnet software licence.” said Lin.

Mike Bienvenu, Technical Director at sole UK Distributor Softek commented “This is another excellent deployment option for Deepnet customers. The fact remains that while Deepnet can send one time passwords via text message, or customers can generate their own token by using their mobile phone, some customers simply have to have a hardware token. The non-expiring SafeID token is the foolproof choice”.
