The Scottish Society of Louisville and LMPD team up to help Children in Need

(PRLEAP.COM) To celebrate St. Andrew’s Day (November 30), members of The Scottish Society of Louisville (SSL) will present the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) with seventy-five themed teddy bears which have been dressed in Scottish heritage kilts and sashes, during a meeting at Strathmoor Presbyterian Church located at 2201 Hawthorne Avenue (off Bardstown Road) in Louisville on Tuesday, November 27 at 7:30pm.

Local LMPD officers will carry the bears in their patrol cars and as they encounter children, who are the victims of traumatic incidents, they will give them teddy bears. Similar to other programs, the gift of teddy bears is designed to comfort children who have been exposed to violence, abuse, or accidental injury.

The Scottish Society of Louisville (www.scotsoflou.org) was founded as a non-profit organization whose goals are to preserve and promote Scottish culture, history, and heritage and it actively encourages these aims through its Heritage Fund. The next Heritage Fund event will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2008, at Masterson’s, celebrating Scotland’s beloved bard Robert Burns.
