World AIDS Day Observance- 12/1/2007, Oak Park

(PRLEAP.COM) In Observance of World AIDS Day, Saturday, December 1, 2007, Euclid Avenue United Methodist Church, 405 S. Euclid Avenue, Oak Park, Illinois, invites the community to participate together, 6:00 pm, in Liturgy of Healing and Remembrance. Curt Hicks, Cook County Department of Health, will address the growth of the HIV epidemic in suburban Cook County and its impact on persons at risk from or living with HIV/AIDS, their partners, families, and supportive community members. World AIDS Day, December 1, provides opportunity for reflection, remembrance, and re-commitment:
to caring,
to education, and
to advocacy
for persons of our local and global communities as we are affected by the HIV/AIDS crisis.

December 1 Liturgy of Healing and Remembrance includes sharing about current situations locally and needed advocacy work. Curt Hicks has over a decade’s experience managing the HIV testing and prevention education efforts of the Cook County Department of Health throughout suburban Cook County. Mr. Hicks will offer the Evening Reflection with comments, sharing, and resource connections for local HIV/AIDS Work. Curt will discuss the epidemic’s impact, the resources we currently have to fight it, what we still need, and ways we can prepare ourselves and advocate meeting those needs.
