HOUSTON PHOTOGRAPHER BRETT CHISHOLM COMBINES FUN, FASHION, CHARITY TO HELP VULNERABLE BAYOU CITY PETS

(PRLEAP.COM) HOUSTON, November 30, 2007 – Houston Photographer Brett Chisholm and Houston-based fashion designer Chloe Dao will help Bayou City’s most vulnerable furry friends with the second annual SNAP fundraising and fashion show on December 6. The event benefits the SNAP Mobile Clinic and will take place at the Brett Chisholm Photography studios located at 1304 Malone Street, near the Houston Heights. Festivities begin at 6:30 p.m.

SNAP Mobile Clinic is a service of Houston’s Spay-Neuter Assistance Program, Inc., a non-profit organization whose mission is to prevent the suffering and death of cats and dogs because of overpopulation, especially in low-income communities.

“We believe in SNAP’s mission,” said the Houston Photographer. “More than 500,000 animals are euthanized every year in our country at a cost of over $20 million dollars.” He said these numbers don’t include animals that are abandoned and die from starvation, disease, or trauma. “Failure to sterilize animal companions is a major cause of animal overpopulation,” said Chisholm.

The charity event features Project Runway Season Two winner, Chloe Dao and her Fall 2007 couture collection, available only at LOT 8 boutique. Houston handbag designer Elaine Turner will showcase her designer purses during the show, said Chisholm. Fashion show models will be from Page Parks Models. Chisholm, along with representatives of Houston-based Élan Styles, is producing the show.

A silent auction will feature products and services from a collection of prominent Houston boutiques, salons and restaurants. Complimentary cocktails will be served, along with a light fare from Ouisie’s Table.

“This event is an opportunity for Houston animal lovers to do their part to help with our city’s pet overpopulation crisis,” says Chisholm. “Every dollar raised will go toward helping low-income Houston families gain access to healthy, quality spay and neuter assistance at little or no cost. “

Dao agrees. “In Texas, our pets are part of our families – and every family should have the same access to pet care. “

“It is sad to think that more than seventy percent of the cats entering U.S. animal shelters are destroyed each year. Add to that,” said Dao, “the 55 percent of dogs and puppies that are euthanized yearly and anyone can see the dire need for a solution.”

Chisholm said almost 230 animals are euthanized in Houston every year, “and it is within our reach to make a difference. SNAP provides a solution for all of Houston’s companion animals, regardless of their guardian’s ability to pay. Events such as this help us raise the awareness, and most importantly, the funds, to address this issue.”

Chisholm says space is limited and reservations are required. For more information and to purchase tickets call 866-789-3686, ext 3, or visit www.brettchisholm.com.
