WereBears restored to life at DoYouRemember.co.uk

The cult 1980s cuddly-toys-with-a-twist, the WereBears, are currently enjoying a new lease of life at nostalgia website DoYouRemember.co.uk. Now attracting more visitors and recollections on the site than Barbie, it's clear these werewolf-like toys made a big impression. The plush-coated bears are outwardly cuddly, but their faces and paws turn inside out to reveal an altogether darker character with fangs and claws.

One of the original team behind the toy, Nick Reynolds, wrote an entry for the DoYouRemember.co.uk site which has generated so much interest that he and creator George Nicholas are thinking of updating the concept for today's market.

"The site is entirely driven by visitorsí memories", says Michael Johnson, founder of DoYouRemember.co.uk. "WereBears are just the latest of a whole string of toys, games, TV programmes, films, records - even chocolate bars - that are alive and well and living in our collective subconscious. It only needs one person to post an 'anyone remember?' notice onto the site, to release a flood of nostalgia."

In just over a year since its inception, DoYouRemember.co.uk is now registering around a quarter of a million page views per month, making it one of the biggest pop-culture sites on the web.
