Food Emporium Hosts Holiday Gift Sale with Author Monday, December 17
(PRLEAP.COM) Coined as New York’s online gourmet grocer, The Food Emporium will host a Holiday Gifts Special with author Deborah Torbert Monday, December 17 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Food Emporium located at 51st and 2nd Avenue. Gifts will be Torbert’s new book, How to Survive New York City for the Newcomer, her New York Emergency Key Chain, orders for the Betty J. Lax Scholarship T-Shirt and Food Emporium’s Special Food and Gift Baskets for the Season. All with a free cup of coffee! This is one in a series of community events The Food Emporium hosts.
Publisher Jackie Haag of Mother’s House Publishing, Colorado, commented, “We only publish books that are unique and have a purpose. Torbert’s style is very friendly and enjoyable to read. You feel you are having a cup of coffee with a friend while listening to information you need. It is getting the view of the City from an insider’s point of view.” The book’s 7” x 4” format is small enough to fit in a breast pocket or slim purse book and is an ideal size as a stocking stuffer.
Torbert recently was on the Wiseguy Show, Sirius’ Sopranos radio show, and interviewed on the Joey Reynolds Show talking about the need for her book here in New York City.
Torbert came to New York City from the West Coast right after the attack on 9/11/2001. She explained, “When I travel back to the West Coast, I invariably meet people who cannot wait to leave the city, that it did not meet their expectations. I feel so bad knowing that they could have totally enjoyed their trip here and want to return had they known what I tell them in my book. New York City is a too great a place to be misunderstood.”
How to Survive New York City for the Newcomer is available through amazon.com, and it retails for $12.90.
