Presidential Candidate Ron Paul Uses PBwiki To Manage Internet Groundswell

December 19, 2007 - SAN BRUNO, Calif. — PBwiki, Inc., the world's largest provider of hosted educational and business wikis, announced that the Ron Paul campaign has chosen PBwiki as its online collaboration and intranet provider. Wikis, such as Wikipedia, are collaborative workspaces that let multiple people edit and share information. The Paul campaign began using PBwiki in February 2007 and has since broken several records in fundraising. The latest achievement was a record-breaking $6 million raised in online donations on December 16.

E-campaign Director Justine Lam first considered the idea when Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales suggested using PBwiki for libertarian causes. Today, PBwiki is one of the four key tools Lam uses to keep Paul's online groundswell organized, along with the Ron Paul website, email, and Salesforce.com.

"People out in the field can feel disconnected," said Lam, "PBwiki makes them feel a part of a broader campaign."

The campaign uses PBwiki to:
- Post instructions, volunteer guidelines, donation forms, and contracts
- Manage a media list of press resources, along with who will contact them
- Brainstorm innovative new ideas for the campaign

Unlike other collaboration software that she had used in the past, Lam found PBwiki intuitive and easy to use — perfect for working with distributed staffers. "I don't have time to experiment with new software," Lam said. "With PBwiki, I could pick it up and begin immediately."

The wiki's collaborative nature has allowed staffers to immediately add whatever graphics and documents are needed, rather than being forced to wait for a central office to respond to requests.

Most importantly, PBwiki lets the campaign coordinate nearly 100 staffers with a minimum of time. Lam noted, "PBwiki saves us loads of time every day."
