Skin Rejuvenation Clinic, P.A. Offers Non-Surgical Injectable Facelift

(PRLEAP.COM) With many topical products and non-surgical cosmetic alternatives hitting the market each season, it’s difficult to discern which anti-aging methods produce the results they claim. Dr. Elizabeth Hagberg, owner of Skin Rejuvenation Clinic in Edina, MN recently went on the record to discuss one option, Sculptra®, an injectable that some industry experts are calling a “facelift in a bottle.”

“Sculptra represents a unique non-surgical option that helps facial skin naturally regain a more youthful appearance,” said Dr. Hagberg. “But what sets this injectable apart is the fact that it can last up to 2 years and even longer in some cases. This is an ideal option for patients willing to invest more upfront to have results that last longer than six to nine months, which is the timeline of most other filler products.”

Sculptra is a biocompatible, biodegradable injectable material known as poly-L-lactic acid that naturally stimulates the body to produce its own collagen. Sculptra allows a trained physician to literally "sculpt" a face by restoring its natural contours.

Dr. Hagberg said it is important to note that this “facelift in a bottle” is a gradual process and more than one treatment is usually needed to provide results.

“Sculptra is a building process. It is injected below the surface of the skin, providing a gradual increase in skin thickness. It takes time to gradually sculpt facial contours, so after the initial treatment, I see patients again in a few weeks to decide how many additional treatments are needed,” she explained. “Often, two to three separate treatments are required to ‘build’ upon aging skin in the cheek and chin region.”

If you are considering Sculptra, it’s important to do your homework. “First, make certain the person administering your treatment is a board-certified physician, trained to administer Sculptra,” she said.

She added that when you choose a physician, it’s important to sit down with him or her to discuss your non-surgical options. “Often times, we find that another injectable such as Restylane®, Radiesse®, JuvedermTM or Perlane® is a more suitable solution for a patient’s particular cosmetic issue,” she explained. “The good news is that there are multiple filler and injectable options available."
