FISSO Implements Standards for IT Security and Compliance Requirements

(PRLEAP.COM) January 7, 2008 - The Financial Information Systems Security Organization (FISSO) held its annual organizational meeting on December 12, 2007. Members from 30 financial organizations throughout the country along with the FISSO Council members met in Omaha to elect new Council Members and approve the development and dissemination of its new IT Security and Compliance Standards.

In previous years, financial firms did not have any type of venue to reach out for standards that effect the Banking Industry. FISSO, started in 2003, by a small select group of Banking Security officials, is the closest organization that offers some resemblance of Security Standards to follow. Stands of Security (SOS’s) have and will continue to follow the International Standards Organization (ISO) format.

The membership has agreed they will provide these SOS’s to any member of FISSO through the next 18 months to help promote improving Security & Compliance Guideline development. You can read more information pertaining to these new SOS’s and other issues relating the the Security of the financial industry at www.fissolive.org.
