SIMtone Corporation Expands Management Team with Appointment of Telecommunications Veteran to Executive Vice President of Engineering

(PRLEAP.COM) Durham, NC (January 16, 2008) – SIMtone Corporation, a privately held company delivering the next virtual computing paradigm, today announced it has upgraded its executive management team by naming Philip Thompson the company’s Executive Vice President (EVP) of Engineering. Mr. Thompson brings to SIMtone more than 30 years of telecommunications, telephony and application development experience from a number of senior technical leadership and executive management positions throughout his career.

In his new position with SIMtone Corporation, Mr. Thompson will be responsible for all product and service platform development for the company’s SIMtone universal dialtone technology.

Prior to joining SIMtone, he was EVP of Product Management and Engineering at mPhase Technologies where he developed the company’s IPTV product line. Prior to mPhase, Mr. Thompson served as Lucent Technologies’ R&D Director and was responsible for spearheading an initiative in EPON (Ethernet-based Passive Optical Network), QOS (Quality of Service) services, VOIP and created the concept of Application Driven Networking.

Prior to Lucent, Mr. Thompson was SVP of Engineering for GeoVideo Networks where he led R&D for large scale video networking, storage and management projects. Before GeoVideo, he held engineering and management roles at Lucent and Bell Labs focused on enterprise and service provider products ranging from PBXs, voice mail, and customer premises equipment (CPE) to MPLS switch development.
