THE TIVOLI BOYS GUARD BAND TO MEET THE MAYOR AND THE DANISH AMBASSADOR.

The Tivoli Boys Guard Band, from Copenhagen, Denmark, will meet Stratford Mayor, Dan Mathieson and the Danish Ambassador to Canada, His Excellency Poul E.D. Kristensen this Monday night, July 25, during an official civic welcome on the steps of City Hall at 6:30pm. The public is invited to join in the welcome and to see the Danish flag, which will be flown atop City Hall as a symbol of the city’s welcome.

Arriving this Sunday from Denmark, the boys, who are aged between 11 and 16 years, are members of the internationally recognized Tivoli Boys Guard Band, a symbol of Denmark and its people.

Dressed in its uniform of bear-skin hats and tunics the colour of the Danish flag with small swords at their sides, the Band will play several pieces on the City Hall steps before making its way to the Stratford Summer Music Gala Dinner at The Church Restaurant.

While in Stratford, The Tivoli Boys Guard Band will perform several concerts in the Festival Theatre Gardens in addition to their performance in the Mayor’s Street Parade and the Tattoo. All of their concerts and performances are free. Details are below.

While in Stratford, the 47 young musicians are to be hosted by local residents and treated to meals and special events by such local businesses and restaurants as The Elizabethan Restaurant, Gene’s Restaurant, Madelyn’s Diner, Stratford Motor Products, Festival Tours: The Double Deck Experience, Bentley’s Restaurant, McCully Hill Farms, St. Marys Tourism and the City of St. Marys, Stratford IGA.
