Case Cutlery Dynasty Book Release to Benefit Libraries

July 23, 2005 (PRLEAP.COM) Entertainment News
The events from July 31st to August 6th will also celebrate the region’s importance in the history of American cutlery. Fittingly, the kickoff event will be in Little Valley, New York, where the author grew-up, and where the many Case cutleries began. Known as “The Village of Knives” among serious collectors, Little Valley was the epicenter of America’s greatest era of knife making, with the region claiming over 70 cutlery companies in operation since the Civil War. And over 30 were related by blood – W.R. Case & Sons, Case Brothers, ALCAS, Cattaraugus Cutlery, Kinfolks, Ka-Bar, Crandall Cutlery, C. Platts’ Sons, and Burrell Cutlery, just to name a few – Case relations starting and spinning-off competing cutleries incessantly, resulting in perhaps the most peculiar dynasty in all of business.

Tested XX – The Case Cutlery Dynasty is the extraordinary 140-year history of America’s oldest and largest family of knife makers – Four generations continuing to today. Author Brad Lockwood is a Case descendant, the great-great grandson of Andrew Jackson Case and Sara Wyatt Case, and was piqued by his grandmother’s stories, as well as her curious avoidance, to research and write the definitive history of his family.
