EAST DOWNTOWN MANAGEMENT DISTRICT TO HOLD NAMING CONTEST TO NAME EAST DOWNTOWN
(
PRLEAP.COM) HOUSTON, TEXAS. MARCH 19, 2008 — The East Downtown Management District is seeking names for re-branding the neighborhood East of Downtown. The neighborhood is defined as the triangle east of downtown created between the intersections 1-45, US-59 and the railroad. East Downtown offers some of the most spectacular views of the Houston skyline and unmatched access to the Downtown Business District, the East End and the historic Third Ward. Attractions such as Minute Maid Park, Discovery Green Park, the expanded George R. Brown Convention Center, and the Toyota Center are just blocks away.
The naming process will allow local Houstonians to give the district a unique identity that preserves the heart and soul of this community while making it a distinct place among the established downtown districts. East Downtown hopes to draw attention to the varying districts, cultures and offerings of the city by capturing the neighborhoods unique essence.
