Contact Lens Implants for Myopia

(PRLEAP.COM) For moderately to highly nearsighted individuals, implantable contact lenses are a safe and effective way to treat their refractive errors. While LASIK may be the best surgical option for many patients, there are more complications associated for patients with a higher degree of myopia. For these patients, implantable contact lenses may be a good option.

The implants are inserted through a tiny inclusion and placed in front of the eye’s natural lens: http://www.neovisioneyecenter.com/contactlenses_faq.html.

According to one study, in which the lenses were implanted in 526 eyes of nearly 300 patients with myopia ranging from –3.0 to –20.0 diopters, after three years, nearly 60% of the patients had 20/20 vision or better visual acuity. Nearly 95% had 20/40 or better.
