North Hollywood, CA – (April 12, 2008) – With the highly-anticipated release of its new strategy game, Ilium, Playroom Entertainment® makes its commitment to continue to expand its “big-box” strategy game offerings.

Playroom Entertainment’s Ilium (MSRP $38 for ages 8 and up), a down and dirty archaeological themed board game set in Ancient Troy, is an elegantly styled, beautifully illustrated game designed by Reiner Knizia. The new game, which will be available this Summer, demonstrates Playroom’s business plan to continue to license, develop and publish titles for this market.

Dan Rowen, President of Playroom Entertainment, said, “Many of our games have crossed categories of family games, hobby games, and strategy games. We are always eager to expand our offerings with great games that can appeal to several demographics. Specifically with Ilium, Playroom is definitely setting out to expand our big-box, high end designer games offerings.”

The release of Ilium comes on the heels of Playroom’s breakthrough success in the genre with the 2007 launch of Portobello Market (MSRP $38, for ages 8 and up), which was designed by Thomas Odenhoven and published in Germany by Schmidt Spiele. In addition, Playroom also has other strategy and family-oriented card and board games, such as Little Italy (MSRP $25, for ages 10 and up) and Knights of Charlemagne (MSRP $20, for ages 8 and up), which are also designed by Knizia, and Bull in a China Shop (MSRP $10, for ages 8 and up) and In Limbo (MSRP $10, for ages 8 and up), which were designed by Michael Schacht.

Portobello Market, a sophisticated, well-balanced and intricately-detailed strategy game, is about building and shopkeeper management at the world-famous marketplace. “Portobello Market was extremely well-received by retailers and consumers. The game really made a statement for Playroom that we offer, new and original strategy games that appeal to consumers,” Rowen explained. “We are now carefully nurturing the category and dedicating efforts to add quality titles for long term success.”

Playroom plans to offer a chance to play all of its titles, including exclusive pre-release demonstrations of Ilium, for all attendees at upcoming trade shows and consumer conventions: GAMA Trade Show, Origins Game Fair and Gen Con Indy.
