Zola Eco-Friendly Furnishings Achieves Silver Exemplary Status from the Sustainable Furniture Council

(Bend, Oregon) Zola, a leading designer and manufacturer of eco-friendly home furnishings has been awarded the prestigious Silver Exemplary Status from the Sustainable Furniture Council (SFC). One of only five companies worldwide to have currently achieved this milestone, the Silver Exemplary Status is given to those companies that meet a strict set of criteria regarding sustainable manufacturing and business practices. “We are extremely proud of our efforts to reduce the impact of our company and its products on our planet. The Sustainable Furniture Council is a non-profit organization formed in 2006 to set standards for and promote environmentally sustainable practices within the home furnishings industry. Members applying for Exemplary Status must submit a certified application attesting to their achievements in a broad range of environmental initiatives that includes the use of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Certified woods, bio-based or recycled materials, and renewable energy. In addition, the company must show that it has a Social Equity Code of Conduct in place for its suppliers, provides a living wage for its employees, and that its supply chain has been impacted with improvement. Similar to the LEED Green Building requirements, extra points are awarded for each of these categories, and Silver Exemplary Status is only given to those companies whose final score meets or exceeds SFC requirements.
