GamerAndy.com, an independent website for Video Game news and information have announced their "Do Not Speak For Us" campaign, aimed at groups who would attempt to censor the Video Game industry, as well as educating the consumer on picking Video Games for children.

"Too often, Video Games have become the scapegoat for all that is wrong with the youth in America. To those who spread ignorance and fear about Video Games, we at GamerAndy.com say: 'Do Not Speak For Us'" said David LaMont, Senior News Correspondent.

He added: "We feel the problem is not with the Video Game Industry, who voluntarily has their games rated, but with consumers, who are either unaware, or ill-informed as to the method of choosing a suitable Video Game."

The campaign will petition Jack Thompson, a Miami Lawyer who brought the "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" "Hot Coffee" modification to prominence, Senator Hillary Clinton of New York, and the group "Peaceaholics" who recently protested in front of RockStar Games Manhattan office. RockStar Games is the developer of the "Grand Theft Auto" series of video games, and was protested against for its upcoming release "Bully".

The petition will ask for an immediate cessation of all attacks on the Video Game Industry, citing freedom of speech and expression. The petition will be signed by many adult Video Game players from around the country.

"We're not activists, just regular people who are tired of having ambitious lawyers and politicians use videogames as the platform to advance their careers." said Adam Levine, President and Editor of GamerAndy.com.

He added: "Telling any company to not release a product because of its potential to inflict 'injury' is outrageous."

The "Do Not Speak For Us" campaign also pledges to help consumers understand the Electronic Software Ratings Board (ESRB), and how to find more information about Video Games prior to purchase.

"Simply reading a review or listening to a child’s friend isn’t good enough. The ESRB website is an excellent resource to find out exactly what is in a game, most people do not realize that, Jack Thompson sure hasn’t mentioned it." said Mr. LaMont.

He added: "Our goal is to have consumers decide what is best for them, rather than have someone with questionable objectives decide."
