Pot Bellied Pig Provides Owner with Inspiration for Children's Book
(
PRLEAP.COM) Roseville, Calif. August 1, 2008 – Bubbles, the family pet pot bellied pig, became more than just a pet to owner Jane Ferguson, a writer in Roseville, California. Instead, Bubbles became the inspiration of Ferguson’s first book entitled "Bubbles the Little Pig," which is available nationally and abroad now. The book can be found on Amazon, Borders, Barnes & Nobles, and Tower Books.
In a feature on Bubbles that recently appeared in the Press Tribune, Ferguson stated that she never expected to work on writing a book, and finds the title of author as "kind of a strange feeling."
Bubbles was adopted by Ferguson and her husband after they fell in love with piglets at the state fair. The couple researched owning a pig, and adopted Bubbles through a rescue shelter called Pig Harmony. The pot bellied pig has her own pink room with her own princess blanket adorned with crowns in the Ferguson home where she sleeps.
"Bubbles the Little Pig" is a story of Bubbles’ outdoor adventure that begins once the gardener leaves the backyard open. Once out of her yard, Bubbles encounters and talks to dogs, turkeys and other animals, but she eventually makes her way back home.
"Bubbles was my inspiration, I adore her," said Ferguson. "I just sat down one day and started writing a little story."
The book, while fictional, is based on a few real life events that Bubbles has encountered. And because Bubbles is constantly finding new adventures, it would be no wonder if Ferguson decided to write another story on her adventures.
"If people want another story, there’s another story there," she said.
