Mount Ida High School Featured in Arkansas Democrat Gazette Weekend
(
PRLEAP.COM) Mount Ida, AR - August 20, 2008 – Mount Ida football coach Mike White was recently featured in Arkansas Democrat Gazette Weekend for leading the team to the state championship and how he became involved in the local community. The daily newspaper delivers information about local news, business, entertainment, sports, politics, dining and events.
The article titled "Staying at home" explains how White became involved at the high school and within the Mount Ida sports community. White was a member of nearly every athletic team when he was younger and became eager to be part of the high school coaching family.
"When he took over the program in 2005, he initiated some goals for the team," wrote staff writer Eric Moore. "The first was to win a conference championship outright for the first time in 15 years, which they did. By the 2007 season, the goal had changed to winning a state championship, and once again, he and his team delivered."
White also served as head baseball coach and helped lead the team to their first regional championship in several years. White gets the most joy from watching his players grow and mature during their high school career. ‘"I just enjoy working with the kids,’" White said in the article. ‘"Setting goals for them and watching them come through, just seeing kids reach their own goals."’
