(
PRLEAP.COM) Tucson, AZ - August 28, 2008 – Chiquita’s Foundation of Dreams is gaining local popularity and was recently featured in the Arizona Daily Star for helping to make cancer patient’s and those with other serious illnesses last wishes come true. The daily newspaper delivers information on local news, sports, business, lifestyle, food, entertainment and classifieds.
The article titled "Cancer victim’s kin help others" explains how the organization has helped local families grant the last wishes for those that are suffering with cancer and other serious illnesses. Their most recent event was a daylong excursion filled with live music, dancing and fashion shows.
The group has already been able to grant the wishes of seven patients since its formation in the March of 2007. "Those wishes included a big-screen television for a man with poor eyesight who had a brain tumor, and funeral expenses for a 17-year-old," wrote Arizona Daily Star staff writer Philip Haldiman.
The foundation was named after Sara "Chiquita" Machiche who had a passion for singing música ranchera and was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in September 2004. She lost her battle to cancer in March 2007 and was never able to fund a trip to Hawaii before her passing.
