AFC Industries Featured in Crain's New York Business
(
PRLEAP.COM) College Point, NY - September 4, 2008 – Karl Keuroghlian, international sales manager of AFC Industries, was recently featured in Crain’s New York Business for his thoughts on rising shipping costs and fuel prices. The publication provides fast-breaking stories and in-depth reports of local business news, resources and events in New York.
The article titled "Firms Gear Up For Costly Shipping" gathered the comments of local small businesses and how the rising costs of fuel and shipping has affected their profits and customer base. Companies are being forced to find new ways to cope to curve costs and small businesses have to pay higher freight charges for less-than-full containers and trucks.
"Some small businesses are still able to pass on costs to their customers-although even that requires some finessing by people like Karl Keuroghlian, international sales director for AFC Industries, a College Point, Queens company that makes ergonomic workstations for medical and high-tech offices," wrote staff writer Joyce Hanson.
When fuel prices started to rise, Keuroghlian quoted customers a price, but warned them it might go up 15-20 percent within a month. "The uncertainty may have cost him some deals," wrote Hanson. "So he started adding 30% up front, and then knocking 10% to 15% off at the time of shipping."
