The prices measured in this benchmark document are market-based prices, all of which are currently valid. Organizations contributing data to the mobile voice benchmark database are large corporate/government customers — typically with annual telecommunications expenditure of over one million dollars per annum.

The pricing presented in this benchmark report represents market rates for mobile voice services provided by a range of Australian carriers. In order for any pricing category to be listed in this report, a requirement of a minimum of 10 samples from multiple carriers/service providers. To be noted, however, that the vast majority of mobile voice services measured in this report contain 25 or more pricing samples, and in some cases up to 50 pricing samples. In aggregate, the mobile voice retail price database contains thousands of pricing samples.

The Mobile Voice Pricing Study covers the following services:

Call Charges — Local, National, Inter-Capital, Mobile to Mobile and International Calls.
Value Added Services (VAS) — SMS and Voicemail services.
Service Charges — Connection and Service Management Fees

In order to maintain the confidentiality of customer information, benchmark findings are expressed as:

- Industry Low;
- Industry Median;
- Industry Average (arithmetic Mean of the sample values);
- Industry Trim Mean (excluding the top and bottom 10% of industry samples); and
- Industry High prices.
