Jerry's Cleaners Incorporated maintains successful business after owner passes

(PRLEAP.COM) It was 64 years ago that Gerald Fyke, a man from very poor beginnings, decided he wanted to make a success of himself. He carried out this decision by opening Jerry’s Cleaners Incorporated, a dry cleaning service that services Naples, Florida.

As time progressed, Fyke created a family operated business. This included hiring both of his granddaughters and Diana King, the current President and CEO. Diana has been an employee of Fyke for 36 years. "We’re the oldest dry cleaners in Naples," King said.

Although Fyke passed away in March of 2008, his staff makes sure he lives on through his business. "He had to get a job caddying on a golf course when he was 9 years old." King stated. "To be as successful as he was during the time of his death was amazing."

Jerry’s Cleaners has clientele dated back to the very beginning. "We have some customers that started with us when Jerry first opened the doors. They have been coming ever since," said King.

The customers’ constant business has proven to be more than a token of appreciation. After leasing the location for 30 years, King said they were finally able to purchase the property in 2004. She credits this as one of her proudest moments employed with the company.

Some of the services offered are pre-spotting and cleaning for all types of clothes as well as household linens. A take-down and re-hang service for draperies can also be requested.

Although the dry cleaner has been successfully providing professional clothing care for more than 4 decades, the CEO seeks ways to constantly improve service. King said they will be changing their solvents in the near future to cleansers that are even less dangerous to the environment. "We are currently recycling plastic, cardboard and hangers…We stay as green friendly as we can."

Jerry’s Cleaners has same day service, providing the clothes are brought in by 10a.m. The usual turn around is 24 hours.
