New York, NY — On September 27, 2008, acclaimed actor, storyteller and award-winning playwright Doug Motel (http://www.dougmotel.com) will be re-creating some of the funny, touching and inspiring experiences of his life in show business and as an eyewitness to some of America's defining moments such as the L.A. riots and the attack on the World Trade Center on September 11th. This performance of StarDUST [Adventures in Consciousness] will be presented at the New York Open Center, 83 Spring Street, New York, NY.

Best selling author Marianne Williamson said; "Doug Motel makes 'conscious comedy'. He makes me laugh and he makes me think." The New York Post said; "Doug Motel, like Lily Tomlin, is one of those rare comedians who creates and seemingly becomes totally original characters".

Known for his character driven solo plays, Doug was inspired to pen his first autobiographical piece . "What I've discovered is that everybody has a story to tell and every body's own story is interesting if they get to the really uncomfortable, personal stuff," recounted Doug Motel.

In StarDUST, Doug has entertained and inspired audiences as he relives some of his adventures and outrageous misadventures. From his teen years as a stand up comic in Times Square to his Hollywood stint as film and television actor, Doug Motel spins a yarn around the miracles and tragedies he has experienced. It is a story of joy, sadness and ultimately hope for the future of the world.

Doug Motel is the author of several critically acclaimed solo plays including MICK IN AMERICA, SHIVA ARMS (winner of the L.A. Weekly award for Best Solo Performance and winner of Theatre LA Ovation award for Best Writing of a World Premier play, Best Actor and Best Production) and MIND SALAD (L.A.
