In February 2009, the R+T International Trade Fair returns to Stuttgart, Germany, and Budget-Awnings.com will be attending the impressive international event for the first time. R+T occurs only every three years and is a massive expo encompassing dozens of different industries related to outdoor engineering – construction, landscaping, and climate protection systems, including retractable awnings, canopies, gates, doors, windows, sunrooms, even furnishings and decor. The event draws crowds in the tens of thousands from scores of countries. The R+T Trade Fair, which runs from Feb. 10 to 14, 2009, has several areas of focus for the coming expo:

• Exploring the intersection between energy efficiency and sun protection systems
• Highlighting concepts for including sun protection systems as part of new "green" architectural designs
• Introducing new technologies for automation and "intelligent management" for sun protection systems

The scale of the event is staggering. The New Stuttgart Convention Center, with over 1.1 million square feet of exhibition space, will host over 700 vendors and exhibitors, some with display areas topping 14,000 square feet. The major manufacturing centers for retractable awnings – China for budget lines and Europe (especially Germany and Italy) for quality lines – will be present and hosting exhibits for demos and questions. Other retractable awning trendsetting companies from Poland, the Netherlands, Switzerland, France, and Spain will also attend the expo.

"I'd like to see advancements with snow and rain protection systems," said Scop. "Retractable awnings are fantastic tools to protect from sun, UV, heat, and glare. I'd like to see that functionality extended year-round with an even broader weather range."
