Dublin - Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/reports/c22562) has announced the addition of Technology spending plans in UK healthcare to their offering

Following in-depth interviews with 100 UK healthcare providers, this end-user study provides IT vendors with valuable insight into the healthcare sectors IT strategy and spending plans. The survey also focuses on providers propensity to outsource, their infrastructure investment and IT purchasing process.

This report examines the drivers of providers IT strategies and IT spend allocation. Both current and future spending and sourcing strategies are identified. It discusses the penetration and potential of wireless, call center, VoIP, storage, media and security solutions within the healthcare environment and looks at the development of outsourcing and whether it is likely to be a priority in the future. The sample was drawn from NHS hospitals, private hospitals, primary care trusts and long-term care institutions across all areas of the UK.

With tightening budgets and constant pressure to improve standards of care, providers are increasingly looking to IT to contain costs and maximize efficiency, rather than generate revenue. Implementing clinical information systems, such as EHR and PACS, currently ranks as the most important spending priority among providers.

In 2005/2006, the majority of available ICT budgets have either increased or remained flat. While growth will be somewhat tempered in 2006/2007, this trend will remain similar. Encouragingly for vendors, there is good visibility into 2007 IT budgets, with decreases appearing unlikely.
