atsec tests cryptographic algorithms on three ZTEIC chips
(
PRLEAP.COM) Beijing China – Recently, the Approved cryptographic algorithms implemented in ZTEIC Design Co.,Ltd’s three chips were tested by atsec information security, and validated under the Cryptographic Algorithm Validation Program (CAVP ) by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
The NIST certification validates that the algorithms in these chips have been implemented correctly. Fei Xu, cryptographic algorithm engineer of ZTEIC, notes: "CAVP is meaningful. It not only objectively proved the correctness of our algorithms’ implementations, but also acquainted us with the normal methods and importance of algorithm testing. In addition, it has highly improved the reliability of our products. We are going to add this test to our IC design process so as to provide customers with more reliable products."
Cryptographic algorithm validation is a prerequisite for testing a cryptographic module’s conformance to the FIPS 140-2 standard. All of the tests must be conducted by third-party laboratories that are accredited as Cryptographic Module Testing (CMT) laboratories. atsec information security, an accredited CMT laboratory, was a natural choice for ZTEIC, as atsec has a great deal of global experience in information security evaluation and testing of IT products. Yi Mao, atsec principal consultant and tester for this project, notes: "I cordially congratulate ZTEIC for passing the CAVS tests on all eleven algorithm implementations, each of which resides on one of three chips. I was impressed by their diligence in removing the blocking issues until they achieved success. The NIST certificates they were awarded indicate the high assurance of the algorithm implementations on these chips. This should afford their products a clear advantage in the competitive market."
The certificate numbers, product information and vendor information can be found on the validation list of the CAVP’s official website at
