John Lucas and Vision Sports "Team Up" at Kingwood

(PRLEAP.COM) MaxxAthlete, the leading digital media company dedicated to youth sports and the parent company of Vision Sports Events, announced a partnership with basketball great, John Lucas and his John Lucas Basketball Resources. This agreement calls for both companies to jointly promote, host and operate the country’s premier youth basketball tournament - the Kingwood Classic. The event will be held in Houston, TX on April 17-19, 2009 and is in its fifteenth year of existence. As part of this new arrangement, the tournament has been renamed the John Lucas Kingwood Classic.

"The opportunity to partner with a great personal success story and a Houston legend such as John Lucas, will not only leverage our company’s event business but it will also allow us to begin focusing our resources on the development of players "off the court" and the life skills that are needed for them to be truly successful. This relationship with John also significantly raises the exposure level for our players and their respective teams that only he can provide. This is based upon his vast network of industry contacts at the collegiate, NBA and product endorsement levels," Michael L. Mahoney, founder and CEO of MaxxAthlete said. "In addition, the partnership gives MaxxAthlete exclusive digital media access to Basketball Resources’ highly regarded regional camps and tournaments. This association also provides our participating players with an entree into these same events and access to individual instruction sessions that John conducts personally," Mahoney went on to say.

"Our agreement with MaxxAthlete is significant in that it signals our company’s intent to not only grow our event and camps business regionally, but nationally as well. Top-notched facilities, competition and instruction are now only a portion of the player exposure equation. The ability to have games streamed "live" and on demand has never been more important to our industry and the players and families we serve as the NCAA has proposed legislation that will not allow college coaches to attend club tournaments in April," John Lucas, founder and CEO of John Lucas Basketball Resources remarked. "MaxxAthlete.com provides us with an Internet TV channel and player media coverage that is provided by two of the best talent evaluators in the industry, through Clark Francis and Van Coleman. Also, all players will now be profiled at our events, which gives them automatic inclusion into MaxxAthlete’s player recruiting network - MaxxInsight.com. This has become the definitive research resource that is used by college coaches for player evaluation purposes due to the fact that it is the only scouting network that provides full game video on each player. It is also free to all of our participants," Lucas went on to say.
