Car hire comparison site Carrentals.co.uk has launched its new Road Sense road safety campaign for the winter months, with a range of offers, advice and information for drivers.

With nearly nine people dying every day on Britain's roads, Road Sense is designed to encourage drivers to take greater care on the roads and help them be prepared for winter.

Special Road Sense offers include 15% off car kits from emergency equipment specialist SurvivalBox.co.uk – a basic emergency pack including a light stick, hi-visibility sleeveless jacket, lightweight foil blanket to retain warmth, a high energy food pack, two packs of long life water, and an ice scraper now costs from £11.04. A range of more advanced packs is also available with the discount.

Carrentals.co.uk has also teamed up with Halfords, the one stop shop for travel essentials, the latest in-car entertainment, cycles and accessories, to offer visitors to the site the chance to win an AA Breakdown Emergency Kit, including a hi-visibility jacket and Parrot Hands Free Kit worth £200.

Managing Director of Carrentals.co.uk, Gareth Robinson says: "The dark nights and poor driving conditions of winter mean that the roads can be particularly treacherous for both drivers and pedestrians. Road Sense is all about trying to help people be prepared, improving safety and encouraging drivers to understand more about the many dangers that they can experience on the roads."

The Road Sense site also includes a range of tips for drivers, including advice on driving at night and in winter, tips on what to do in an accident, and the facts about drink driving.

Carrentals.co.uk compares car hire prices from up to 50 companies in over 9,000 locations around the world available. Companies compared include Holiday Autos, Alamo, Budget and Thrifty.
