GALLOWAY, N.J. – February 6, 2009 – Seaview Resort & Spa, A Marriott Resort, one of the premier resort destinations in the Northeast, today announced plans for the first-ever Mardi Gras celebration to be held at the resort in New Jersey. During the weekend of Feb. 20 – 22, Seaview's charming, historic resort will be transformed to reflect the sites, sounds, and especially the tastes, of an authentic New Orleans Mardi Gras themed party.

The family Mardi Gras festivities will commence on Friday evening in New Jersey, as guests will be treated to complimentary "Hurricanes," the official drink of N'Awlins, and cocktails upon arrival, and kids will be encouraged to take part in a popular Nintendo Wii Party.

Saturday's Mardi Gras celebration will begin early, with golf available on the Bay Course for those who dare to brave the frigid February weather. Later in the day, adults can demonstrate their culinary prowess during a Cajun Cooking Demo – Iron Chef-style – with a Gumbo cook-off competition.

Beginning at 9 a.m., kids will have the opportunity to participate in a full day of exciting activities which include face painting, decorating floats and masks for a Mardi Gras Parade later in the evening, and rehearsing to be part of the "Krewe of Kazoo." The children's activities will also include a tasty lunch with mini burgers, chicken fingers, cupcakes, and more.

On Saturday evening, the real fun begins with a Mardi Gras themed party reception in Seaview's grand Bayview Ballroom. The vibrant colors, traditional music, and dancing of an authentic Mardi Gras celebration will come together as part of Seaview's Mardi Gras Parade, which will make its way through the ballroom, highlighted by the "Krewe of Kazoo" who will perform a special song and throw beads to onlookers.

The night wouldn't be complete without the down-home Southern-style cooking Louisiana is known for, so guests can revel in an extraordinary Cajun menu highlighted by gumbo, jambalaya, shrimp or roast beef po' boys, fresh oysters, étouffée stations, and more. After dinner, guests can indulge their sweet tooth with bananas foster, traditional beignets or scrumptious King Cake – remember, if you find the baby in the King Cake, you have to buy it next year!

This New Jersey Mardi Gras celebration weekend will conclude on Sunday morning with a grand New Orleans-style breakfast served in Seaview's Main Dining Room. Rates start at $189 per night, with all Mardi Gras activities included (golf not included). To make a reservation or for more information visit www.seaviewmarriott.com.
