Fisher Tomlin announces record year in the Caribbean

February 06, 2009 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
Fisher Tomlin have announced that their new Caribbean office, opened just 18 months ago has already won significant new design commissions. Founding Director Andrew Fisher Tomlin said " We are delighted that our new Caribbean office has had such a great debut. This is especially good because the development market has been very subdued by world economic events and it is generally a difficult time for landscape design worldwide."

The commissions for new landscape design are spread quite widely over a range of public, residential and development projects and are primarily in the West Indies. Residential projects include complete garden design packages for private homes in Bequia, St Vincent and Mustique. Dan Bowyer from Fisher Tomlin said "Many of the projects have stunning coastal views and we have aimed to bring these views into the design as well as giving our clients excellent entertaining spaces within their landscapes including swimming pools to create tropical sanctuaries."

Development projects on many Caribbean islands are on hold at the moment but there are still a few large projects that are progressing. As Andrew Fisher Tomlin says "Many of our clients are seeing the first glimpses of an upturn and are planning to come back strongly with their projects. We are still receiving many enquiries for new development projects."

As well as these residential projects Fisher Tomlin are involved on public space commissions including designing a new garden for the historic Carnegie Building in St Vincent. "The company has been increasingly involved with such projects in the UK and Cyprus as well as in the West Indies over the past year, a direction that we are very pleased to be taking." said Dan Bowyer.
