Trainer1 launches reaKt, a sister product to CSL

August 24, 2005 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
Trainer1, the e-learning specialist and Europe-wide authority on workflow learning, has launched the Response Environment for Active Knowledge Transfer (reaKt), a tool that will deliver informal learning of any type from a search engine. It is designed to work with non-IT programmes – such as influencing skills and interview techniques – and, as such, is a complementary product to Trainer1’s Context Sensitive Learning (CSL), the delivery system that uses e-learning to give the end users the IT-related learning information they need at the moment they need it.

Trainer1’s managing director, Neil Lasher, commented: “Increasingly, organisations – and individuals – want immediate access to the right learning materials to meet their need. They don’t want to enter into long or full courses when all they need is a small learning byte to meet their current need.

“That’s where tools such as reaKt and CSL are so valuable in both an organisational and individual development context.

“The threefold concept behind reaKt and CSL is that they provide immediate learning, intelligent learning and direct delivery of that learning. This means that they meet the need for what are now being termed ‘workflow learning’ tools.

“These products integrate learning into workflow without detracting from the work itself. This means that they keep the cost of training/learning to a minimum and, at the same time, maximise the output from the learning.”

Trainer1’s reaKt is a ‘dot net’ application that is web/intranet based and which is able to deliver material such as white papers and web-based learning courses. It costs £2,750 on a yearly licence for a whole organisation – irrespective of the number of users – and can be upgraded to Trainer1’s knowledge management tool, Argonaut, should purchasers want to track the use made of the system.

About reaKt and Context Sensitive Learning

Context Sensitive Learning (CSL) and reaKt enable organisations to provide their staff with information and communications technology (ICT)-related and non-ICT-related training respectively in a user-friendly way. These products use e-learning to give the end users what they need at the moment they need it.

They address ‘informal learning’ that, studies show, comprise 80 per cent of the learning within a typical organisation.

The reaKt and CSL learning materials are written by the user’s organisation - in the same way as learning materials are written at present but using different techniques. These learning materials may be written in any transferable format.

This ensures that the information they contain are exactly and entirely applicable to those who will be using them as job aids.

CSL and reaKt can create real value and ROI for user organisations – not by reducing users’ travel and subsistence costs but by reducing the time taken to develop learning materials and to getting users to reach ‘competence’. CSL and reaKt integrate learning into workflow without detracting from the work itself – thus keeping the cost of training/learning to a minimum and, at the same time, maximising the output from the learning.

CSL and reaKt constantly monitor which screen(s) the user has open on the desktop and, when required, will search and retrieve the relevant learning module that applies to the particular open screen or document – in a network environment. No files need to be deployed on the client machine, making implementation/roll out to large environments a simple process.

CSL and reaKt are available in number of cost options.
