Rocket 55, a Minneapolis SEO firm, has carved out a new business niche, by helping corporate ladder climbers keep their reputation on Google and the rest of the Internet clean. "Our tactic is less about erasing bad press, but more geared toward creating higher ranking sites that will appear above the negativity in online searches." Says Steven Ayres, President and founder of Rocket 55.

Two corporate executives have hired the Minneapolis search engine optimization firm recently to improve their online reputation through Google. It turns out that both had negative and anonymous feedback on the internet that was appearing in the top three Google spots under their names.

It has long been known that corporations have been easy to attack online, but now individuals are becoming more and more concerned with online perception. The same rules that apply to corporations, apply to individuals. Bad press is bad press and for high level executives, perception of integrity is everything. The practice of Googling high level job prospects is an everyday occurrence and prompting new action on the part of those concerned. If someone Googles a person's name, and the first results are all negative reviews, the likelihood of the person maintaining a relationship with them is very slim.
