Phoenix Deli Serves Up Healthy Food Free of Trans Fats, High Fructose Corn Syrup and MSG

PHOENIX — Deli and healthy food lovers in Phoenix now have a great option when they're looking for a lunch or dinner spot: Jason's Deli. Serving up fresh food that's free of trans fats, high fructose corn syrup and MSG, Jason's Deli also has catering and online ordering available.

Founded in 1976 in Beaumont, Texas, Jason's Deli is now in 27 states and has over 200 locations, including six in Phoenix. They bring their product in six days a week, scrutinizing everything to make sure guests have the freshest food possible.

In Phoenix, the deli has everything from sandwiches to stuffed potatoes to a salad bar that includes organic foods. This goes for all other Jason's Deli locations as well, where they've taken being a healthy restaurant quite seriously by eliminating trans fat - it's in nothing at Jason's Deli. MSG, a sodium salt marketed as a "flavor enhancer," isn't in any of the food, either.

"Our enhancing flavor is freshness," says Rusty Coco, co-owner of Jason's Deli.

In the 1970s, Americans were eating a half-pound of high fructose corn syrup every year. Today, Americans - individually - are eating over 50 pounds of it per year. You won't find any high fructose corn syrup in the food at the Phoenix deli, or at any Jason's Deli location. In fact, they're working on eliminating it from soft drinks.

"Our food is delicious, it's healthy and you've got to come," says Coco. "You won't find a better, healthier meal anywhere."
