Nova Scotia Summer Festivals and Events Celebrate Diversity, Culture and Historical Achievements

(PRLEAP.COM) Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada (June 3, 2009). Throughout the month of June, Nova Scotia is hosting a wide array of festivals and events celebrating the province’s rich and diverse culture, history, and achievement.

Some of the major attractions among the many special festivals and events taking place in Nova Scotia during the early summer 2009 are:
- Silver Dart Centennial Aviation Week, June 14-20. The beautiful community of Baddeck on Cape Breton Island continues the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the first powered flight in Canada by their beloved inventor Alexander Graham Bell and his team. Highlighting this special celebration that began in February with the Flight of the Silver Dart replica, is the Centennial Air Show on June 17th.
- 25th Anniversary Multicultural Festival, June 26-28. Nova Scotia takes great pride in honouring many of the cultural groups that make up the mosaic of its people. Taking place at the Alderney Landing Events Plaza in Dartmouth, the 25th Anniversary Multicultural Festival features more than 25 ethno-cultural groups sharing their traditions and knowledge, including music, art and cuisine to help raise the awareness of Nova Scotia’s diverse culture, and history.
- National Aboriginal Day, June 21. Nova Scotia and the rest of Canada honours Aboriginal peoples, traditions and heritage on June 21st – which is also summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere, and the longest day of the year. The Glooscap Heritage Centre in Millbrook, near Truro, Nova Scotia is hosting activities to recognize the importance of this day.

Rich heritage can also be experienced this summer in any of Nova Scotia’s 27 provincial museums and 13 National Historic Sites – including the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site of Canada, in Baddeck, Cape Breton Island – which offer visitors hands-on activities, authentic artifacts, and photographs, capturing some of the significant contributions Nova Scotians have made to today’s world.
